WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS
- Real talk: symbols matter and lives are on the line, Cleveland Indians. A member of the Blackfeet Nation recently wrote in ESPN, “I want to tell these kids, when they’re old enough to understand, that once there was a World Series played when the most racist mascot imaginable was everywhere you looked, while at the same time Indians, real ones, were being illegally arrested in another state, peacefully protesting a pipeline that endangered millions.”
Y’all know how state violence do. We’ve been around this block before. We’re standing with our indigenous sisters and brothers at #StandingRock.
- Here’s the word outta North Dakota: “Mainstream media has failed to publicize the devastation of the pipeline and the true impacts it will have on Native people. We have also seen consistent social media censorship. If you are an independent journalist with broad social media reach, please help us continue to tell the story of the water protectors. If you are a part of any social media site, we ask that you commit to posting and/or sharing at least twice a day.”
We @’d the culprits for y’all. Click to blast ‘em.
We can’t all go out to North Dakota and fuck shit up. Some of us have to stay here and write emails, ya know? If you have the means, donate to these folks (they aren’t Red Cross): Red Warrior Camp Official Winterizing Fund, Sacred Stone Camp DonateOfficial Legal Fund, Camp Fund, Oceti Sakowin Camp Donation, Standing Rock Medic & Healer Council.
